My Soul Thirsts for God

April 14, 2024 Speaker: Keith Kneeshaw Series: Psalms

Passage: Psalm 42

Psalm 42 begins in a very familiar way, "As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God." This obviously points to the author's longing for God. Yet, the rest of the psalm is filled with questions about God. He asks, "Why have you forgotten me?" and "Why do I go mourning?" The effect of these questions are multiplied by the accusatory questions posed to the writer by his adversaries, "Where is your God?" He is in turmoil and downcast as a result. Yet, he concludes with "Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God." Listen as we explore how God's people are able to live in hope, even while we are in despair.
