Our next passage in our sermon series takes us to Joshua 5:13-6:27. This is the most familiar passage in the book of Joshua as it recounts the battle of Jericho. Even though the song says that "Joshua fit the battle of Jericho" ("fit" being short for "fought"), it was the Lord who secured the victory. One commentator noted that this account "stresses how central Yahweh’s presence is and how passive God’s people are." That is good news for us, knowing that God is at work over and above our ability in order to bring about his plan. Listen as we examine one of the stories that many of us learned as kids. Yet, we probably didn't learn the whole story.
