In Joshua 9:1-27, we see that the Israelites took matters into their own hands and made a covenant with the inhabitants of Gibeon, a city west of the Jordan River. Knowing that Israel was certainly going to conquer their city, they craftily deceived Joshua and the other leaders into making a treaty to keep them safe. Instead of consulting the Lord, the leaders make the deal on their own wisdom, which was woefully insufficient. Listen as we look at the life of dependence for God's people and also our submission to his will.
