Ezekiel 8-11
God Has Left the Building

Is there a time when the patience of God runs out? How does God respond when his glory is continually profaned? The early part of Ezekiel is filled with warnings to the people of Israel regarding their rebellion against God. Ezekiel 8-11 describes the escalation of their affront to the Lord by showing their behavior in the temple. With each new scene, God shows Ezekiel "greater abominations" committed by the people. God concluded that their intent was to "drive me far from my sanctuary." Thus, in addition to executing justice against their sin, God withdrew his presence from the temple, which could be the worst consequence of all. Join us on Sunday as we grapple with the righteous judgment of God against our own personal idolatry.
