Galatians 1:1-10
First Things First

For the summer months, we will study the book of Galatians. This is most likely Paul's earliest letter that is included in the New Testament. He writes to the churches that he ministered to in Acts 13-14. You would expect a letter of encouragement for these people or a letter of thanksgiving for them. On contrary, the letter to the Galatians thunders as Paul writes to them that he is "astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel." Why would anyone desert grace? Isn't grace the best possible offer they could have ever accepted? Of course it is. Yet, they find themselves chasing after another gospel. In this sermon, we lay the groundwork for our series which explores Galatians and our freedom in the Gospel.
