Galatians 6:11-18
Don't Look at Me

When we compile a resume in order to apply for a new job, we gather the information about our life that makes us sound most appealing to a potential employer. We list our accomplishments, our past work history, and our skills that will differentiate us from other candidates. Basically, we are trying to make a good impression. At the same time, it's easy for those things we listed to become things we boast in and rely on for our credibility. The Apostle Paul addresses this notion in Galatians 6:11-18 as he writes that we ought not "boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world." To us, that sounds completely reasonable. Yet to the 1st century audience, this sounded absolutely ludicrous. Join us on Sunday as we see how the cross of Christ has become a defining factor for God's people.
