The book of Ezekiel divides into two basic sections: Judgment (chapters 1-32) and Hope (chapters 33-48). Last week, we looked at God's prophecies of judgment against the nations that surrounded Israel (chapters 25-32). This week, we turn to Ezekiel 33 and see the culmination of the judgment against Israel, the fall of Jerusalem (Ezek. 33:21-22). While the fall of Jerusalem is utterly devastating for the people, "it provides the hinge on which the main structure of the book turns" (ESV Study Bible). Ezekiel shifts from judgment to hope. Though not completely obvious, this begins the upswing of the book. Listen now to see how life is found in turning from our wicked ways and turning back to the living God.
