As we have seen in the past few weeks through the study of 1 Peter, it is quite easy to feel unsettled and uncertain in a culture where we are considered strangers and exiles. Yet, 1 Peter 2:4-10 turns the attention to our identity and foundation. Instead of feeling unstable, he speaks of the foundation and cornerstone of our faith. Jesus is chosen and precious to his Father. As a result, we are chosen and valued by God as well. Even if we feel displaced in this world, we have an unshakeable stability through faith in Christ.
